Former CPR Board Chair
Former - Joseph D. Babb, MD
Dr. Babb is a Professor of Medicine with the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences and East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine. He is Past President and Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (elected to Master of SCAI in 2014), Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Past Governor of American College of Cardiology from Connecticut and North Carolina, and a Fellow in the Council for Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Babb is the author of over 160 scientific publications and serves as a reviewer for several cardiovascular journals. In addition to his administration, teaching, and research activities, he has served as Program Director for the Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship and the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship, and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine. Additionally, he has attended numerous international professional conferences where he participates as invited lecturer
His increasing focus over the past decade has been on quality assurance and performance improvement in addition to his career long engagement with graduate medical education. He has served as an independent reviewer in invasive cardiology for decades starting with involvement with The Society for Cardiac Angiography (forerunner of SCAI) cath lab review program.
CPR Board Members
Bonnie H. Weiner, MD MSEC MBA
Dr. Bonnie Weiner is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Weiner is the Director of Interventional Cardiology Research at Saint Vincent Hospital at St Vincent Hospital; President of Imaging Core Lab Services; and Executive Director, Medical Affairs at Boston Biomedical Associates.
Dr. Weiner is a past president of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) where she previously served as the Chair of the Lab Survey Committee and is a leader in the development of professional continuing medical education programs sponsored by the organization.
Dr. Weiner is well respected for her extensive research in cardiovascular disease, having authored or co-authored more than 75 papers. She is a Master of SCAI, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Council on Clinical Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
Stephen Bailey, MD
Dr. Bailey is the Chief of the Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine and the Janey Briscoe Distinguished Chair in Cardiology. As specialist in interventional cardiology, he specializes in the treatment and care of cardiovascular disease, congenital heart disease and structural heart defects. Dr. Bailey is also director of the Janey Briscoe Center for Cardiology Research.
Dr. Bailey is the Program Director for Interventional Cardiology at UTHSCSA. He chairs the UTHSCSA Promotion and Tenure committee and is a member of the ACC AUC Task Force. Dr Bailey is a Past President of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and is currently the Editor in Chief of Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, which is the official publication of SCAI. He is a Master Fellow of SCAI, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the Association of University Cardiologists, Association of Cardiology Professors as well as the International Andreas Greuntizig Society.
